Terms of Service

Last updated: June 20, 2026
Starter draft. This is a template for review — not yet legally binding. Have counsel adapt it to your jurisdiction and business before launch.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) platform operated by CiteForged Ltd ("CiteForged", "we", "us") at citeforged.com and app.citeforged.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

CiteForged measures how often AI answer engines cite a website, analyzes the sources that win those citations, and helps you improve your citation visibility in two ways: (a) machine-readability fixes — a free grade plus paste-ready structured-data, metadata, and FAQ markup generated from your existing pages (the "Fix-It" products), optionally with ongoing monitoring; and (b) content — draft articles and recommendations. Everything the Service produces is provided as drafts, files, or analysis for your review; you decide what, if anything, to deploy or publish.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Submit sites or content you are not authorized to optimize or analyze.
  • Generate fake reviews, fabricated endorsements, or automated community posts. CiteForged maps off-site opportunities but does not produce, and you may not use it to produce, deceptive or fraudulent content.
  • Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
  • Reverse-engineer, resell, or abuse the Service or its rate limits.

4. Content and deliverables

Drafts and analysis the Service generates for you ("Deliverables") are handed off for your review. You remain the publisher. Nothing is auto-posted to your site, and CiteForged requires no access to your CMS. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, fact-checking, and approving any Deliverable before publishing it, and for ensuring it complies with applicable law and the policies of the platforms where you publish.

5. Compliance and no professional advice

CiteForged includes compliance guardrails for regulated niches, but these are automated aids, not a substitute for professional judgment. The Service and its Deliverables do not constitute legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. You are responsible for the accuracy and regulatory compliance of anything you publish.

6. Fees, billing, and refunds

What we sell. CiteForged offers (a) one-time purchases — the whole-site Fix-It packet and the Fix-It Pro (generated FAQ) add-on, delivered as digital files immediately after payment; and (b) recurring subscriptions — Monitoring (billed monthly or annually) and content plans (billed monthly, with monthly allowances of scans and articles). The free grader and the single-page Fix-It packet are provided at no charge. Prices are shown at checkout in U.S. dollars and may change with notice for future purchases or renewals.

Payment. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe; by purchasing you also agree to Stripe's terms. You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for the amounts shown at checkout plus any applicable taxes.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period — monthly or annual — at the then-current price, and your payment method is charged automatically, until you cancel. Annual Monitoring is billed once per year; monthly subscriptions are billed each month. Renewal terms are disclosed at checkout.

Cancellation. You can cancel any subscription at any time from your account billing portal or by emailing hello@citeforged.com. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep access until then.

Refunds. Because Fix-It deliverables are digital files generated and delivered immediately, one-time purchases are generally non-refundable once the packet has been generated. If a paid order fails to deliver — for example we cannot reach your site, or a generation error prevents delivery — contact us and we will re-run it or refund that purchase. For subscriptions, fees already billed for the current period are non-refundable except where required by law; cancel any time to prevent further charges. Nothing here limits any non-waivable refund, cancellation, or cooling-off rights you have under the law of your jurisdiction.

Failed payments. If a renewal charge fails, we may retry it and may suspend or downgrade the subscription until payment succeeds.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, models, and design, is owned by CiteForged and protected by law. Subject to these Terms, you own the Deliverables produced for you and grant us a limited license to process your inputs to provide the Service.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee any particular citation, ranking, traffic, or business outcome. AI answer engines are third-party systems whose behavior we do not control.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CiteForged will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CiteForged Ltd and its officers, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) content or markup you publish or deploy, (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (c) your infringement of any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute that a court must hear is the state and federal courts located in Colorado, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at hello@citeforged.com and attempt to resolve the matter informally for at least 30 days.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or to comply with law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

13. General

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and CiteForged regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on this subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign them without our consent. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, and there are no third-party beneficiaries to these Terms.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
